Coaching

People often feel inadequate in their ability to negotiate or to engage effectively in  conflict situations. Ruppert McCarthy provides one-on-one coaching to parties so  that they may effectively and confidently engage in negotiations, mediations and  conflict situations.

Coaching is a one-on-one relationship between a trained coach and a party who wants to  improve one or more aspects of their lives. Conflict Coaching and Negotiation  and Mediation Coaching are specialties within the coaching field.

Conflict Coaching is a process whereby a trained coach assists the client in discovering how they may effectively manage and engage in conflict. Conflict coaching is applicable whether the conflict deals with a personal or professional  relationship.  Conflict coaching works  because clients:

Learn to respond rather than react to conflict,
Avoid being “triggered”
Avoid old conflict patterns,
Gain insight about the conflict, themselves and the other person,
Prevent disputes from escalating,
Are prepared to engage in productive dialogue.

Negotiation and Mediation Coaching is a process whereby a trained coach assists a party or lawyers representing parties, in preparing to effectively engage in a negotiation or mediation. Negotiation and mediation coaching works because parties and lawyers:

Are prepared,
Gain insight about their own negotiation styles,
Learn to effectively respond to the other’s negotiation styles,
Learn to approach issues using principled negotiation techniques,
Learn to manage their own emotions,
Learn to respond effectively to other’s emotions,
Learn to employ effective negotiation skills regardless of the “negotiation climate”.
